Saudi king invites 100 pilgrims from South Sudan

October 29, 2011 (KHARTOUM) – The Saudi King Abdullah Bin Abdel-Aziz invited 100 Muslims from South Sudan to perform the annual Hajj rituals this year.

Saudi state media said that this comes within the framework of the Saudi monarch Program to perform Haj this year. The Program, supervised by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Call and Guidance, is also hosting 1,300 pilgrims from other countries.

For Muslims, the Hajj is the fifth and final pillar of Islam. It occurs in the month of Dhul Hijjah which is the twelfth month of the Islamic lunar calendar. It is the journey that every sane adult Muslim must undertake at least once in their lives if they can afford it and are physically able.

The Program’s executive director, Abdullah Bin Mudlij Al-Mudalij, pointed out that the Saudi Embassy in Sudan and the ministry’s Call Office have completed arrangements for the hosting of these pilgrims from South Sudan.

Al-Mudalij did not say what criteria were used to pick the pilgrims.

South Sudan became an independent state last July after its citizens voted almost unanimously last January to secede from the Arabic Muslim north.

There are no exact figures on the number of south Sudanese Muslims, but they are believed to be a minority.

Saudi Arabia officially recognised the new state less than two weeks after its independence and announced that it will establish diplomatic ties with it.

    Mr. Deng Ateny Lueth,

I agree with 110 percent on your comments. That’s how Islam got into India. They (Arabs) converted all the poor, and it can happen in south Sudan. Today there are more Muslims in India than in Pakistan. What is asking is another big propaganda. Those who are invited will come with lots of money to build more mosque. Stay tune, people it’s all happening.

Religion policy and bribe people to belief is not acceptable in South Sudan. 2.5 million lives of Sudanese people have been lost precisely because of that religion caused. Southern Sudanese Muslim must understand that,90% in Southern Sudan don’t want to see another religion issue so be aware that, eat propery there but you will be in trouble in Southern Sudan.

    Elijah,
Indian muslim used to rule India before the Christian British came to enslave India and steel it’s gold!Pakistan and Babgaladesh were part of Indian. Muslim and non-muslims were living together in peace untill the Christian white-men enslavers came to divide them. Read some books to fill your washed-brain with something useful! Taj Mahal ( if you know it ) was built by Indian muslims !
