A peacekeeper killed in fresh ambush near South Darfur capital

November 6, 2011 (KHARTOUM) — A peacekeeper from Sierra Leone serving with the African Union United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) was killed today near the capital of South Darfur state, the United Nations disclosed from New York.

United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon disclosed the death of a peacekeeper Sunday in a fresh attack on the UNAMID, near Nyala capital the of South Darfur state as the hybrid mission remained silent on the issue.

“The Secretary-General condemns today’s attack on a UNAMID patrol near Nyala in Southern Darfur which resulted in one peacekeeper being killed and two others sustaining injuries,” said the spokesperson for the UN chief in a statement released on Sunday.

Ban Ki Moon urged the Sudanese government to “bring those responsible for this reprehensible act to justice.”

He further extended his heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the Government of Sierra Leone, the families of the three soldiers and their colleagues in Darfur.

Sunday’s death bring the number of UNAMID peacekeepers killed in Darfur since the mission deployed in 2007 to 34.

    The problem in Northern Sudan and all others ares wouldn’t stop unless Omar al Bashir is not there. International Community must take proper action against the regime which made a lots of messed in the Sudan.

    International Community must not wast time for indictment, let him follow Gaddafi period. There are numbers of things that, Bashir had made a very big violation such as the two States wars
