Sudan vice-president Taha, SPLM leader Garang to visit Egypt next week: report

KHARTOUM, June 06, 2004 (Sudan Tribune) — Sudanese vice president Ali Osman Mohamed Taha will leave next Wednesday to Cairo to brief Egyptian leadership on the latest development of peace in Sudan.

According to Sudanese Media Centre (SMC), SPLA leader. John Garang is also expected in Cairo next week for the same purpose.

On the other hand, Egyptian President Hussni Mubarak has directed his prime minister Atif Ebied to leave to Khartoum in order to congratulate the Sudanese Government on signing yesterday Nairobi framework agreement for peace in Sudan with SPLA .

The source didn’t give further detail about the date of the expected visit.

Egyptian President Mubarak made a telephone call to president Al Bashir immediately following signing of the agreement in Nairobi and expressed the Egyptian Government full support of peace process and stability of Sudan.

Mubarak who has also congratulation message to Dr. John Garang . In a message sent to him, Mubarak hoped a prosperous future for Sudan and Egypt under peace.

Egyptian foreign minister Ahmed Mahir represented his country at the ceremony of the signing of the six peace protocols organised yesterday in the Kenyan capital Nairobi.
