Jonglei disarmament

Kuol, who is in overall command for Operation Restore Peace and disarmament in Jonglei State had called upon civil population to cooperate with army to tract down those people who are still hiding unauthorized firearms in their respective residential areas.

Speaking during South Sudan First Annvisary independent Day celebration in Bor stadium, Lt- Gen Kuol stated that disarmament had become successful as well militias who were disturbing state peace had low their aggression. There is now peace in Jonglei state, the SPLA have discover number of abducted children and women who were abducted during inter-communal violence between Murle, Lou Nuer and Dinka. Those abducted people are being reunited with their family by state government.

DISARMAMENT IN JONGLEI STATE

In February 2012, South Sudan President General Salva Kiir Mayardit decree it army forces to carryout intensive disarmament in Jonglei state. The disarmament was follow by peace and reconciliation program campaign in the state.

Lt-Gen Kuol disclosed that disarmament had been successful achieved in Jonglei state. He announced that since disarmament began in February, the army managed to collect 11,521 firearms in hand of civil populations across Jonglei state counties.

“In disarmament we collected 11,521 guns in hand of civil population – we got 29 children and women who were abducted during inter-communal violence – there are 3 children of Murle we found in Nyirol county and those kids are now present in Langken the headquarter of Nyirol county”.

His explained that “unrest of robbery has reduced across Jonglei state – in May we had counter 26 assault from cattle bandit – In June only we had only 6 attacks to SPLA positions. There is no any attack in Great Akobo, Duk and Twic East Counties only attack are happening in Bor county and Pachalla and Boma. We in the SPLA and organize force we will faced them attackers by all main to deflected them”.

Community in Pibor and several counties of Jonglei state accused SPLA soldiers for having rape women along side disarmament process – they cases of human right abuse were most common by reported. However, the SPLA Lt-Gen Deim rejected the community claim saying that those women who were rape and those human right abuses must to be face justice. He asks women to come out official and show such soldier who committed rape. None of women ever show up.

“There is no discipline within our forces and there is a need to be improved – in this rainy season we in SPLA must continue disarming all civil populations. I ask everyone to cooperate with SPLA by showing those people who are still hiding guns in their houses”. He requested community saying “show us who hide gun”. They SPLA forces task for disarmament program in Jonglei state here will not move anywhere until we confirmed that Jonglei State free from all unauthorized firearm.

REBEL FORCES

South Sudan got independent on July 9, 2011. The newest nation faced security challenges including inter-communal violence and rebel fighting with aim to overthrow government in Juba. The leading figure late George Athor was a strong SPLA fighter all along the bush life.

He deflected to bush when he was declared defeated in April 2010 Sudan general election by incumbent Jonglei state governor Kuol Manyang Juuk. Speaking during the South Sudan Independent occasion Day in Bor stadium, SPLA Lt-Gen Kuol Deim Kuol, stated that Jonglei state is free from rebel activities since Athor forces surrender to SPLA army. There is no any rebel being heard in Pigi and Pangak county of Jonglei state.

“The soldiers belong to George Athor are now been integrated into SPLA forces – we have not rebel any longer – we have remain with cattle thieves in Pangak and Pigi. We are defending all those civil population we disarmed” he said.

I am hearing civilian talking about David Yau Yau – people said Yau Yau is attacking people in Pibor shortly, they said security situation will be worsening. “all those remorse are lairs and I need everybody in Pibor and other part of Jonglei state to do their businesses without fear in mind, your SPLA forces are ready to dealt with him day and night with confident to capture Yau Yau alive or dead” said Kuol which move crown of people with cheers.

“We have deployed our forces everywhere, David Yau Yau will be brought to book by all main” he said. If Yau Yau came back to Pibor, there are people assigned to deal with David Yau Yau in Pibor.

The self-proclaim prophet Dak Kueth Deng is arrested in Ethiopia territory during our join military operation with our Ethiopian Army counterpart. Deim appeal to entire Jonglei population to adopt peace and reconciliation to hell wounds of inter-communal cycle of violence. “Let us work for peace in Jonglei state – peace cannot come to state with effort of one person, let us all work for peace”.
