November 26, 2012 (JUBA) – The head of the Lakes State parliament’s physical infrastructure committee, Taban Abil Aguek on Monday called on the state minister for physical infrastructure to do more.

must do more, during the announcement of the formation of the 17 specialised committees.

“There are a lot of thing to be imposed on the state minister for physical infrastructure: roads and bridges to be upgraded, feeder roads, airport tarmacing and the construction of the Lakes state national stadium,” said Aguek.

The specialised committees are tasked with monitoring and reporting on ministries’ performance and overseeing community affairs. They report to August House on difficulties facing ministries and communities which then makes decisions based upon their findings.

On Thursday the Lakes state speaker, John Marik Makur, announced the establishment of the specialised committees. Aguek, representing Awerial county, struggled to win his seat when the majority of members of the state parliament demanding reforms, reduced the five year term of specialised committees to two and half years.
