Gunmen loot 144,000 SSP from Zain Bor Office

October 16, 2013 (BOR) – Unknown armed persons on Tuesday morning looted items, cash and unsold sim-cards worth 144,000 SSP after breaking into the offices of telecom firm, Zain.

Addressing the media in Bor on Tuesday, Zain manager in Bor, Chol Moses said the thugs stole 64,000 pounds in cash, 70,000 pounds in airtime, sim cards worth 10,000 pounds and a laptop.

Zain’s office is located near the offices of the police in Bor Marol, something which has left many wondering how the telecom firm’s office could be broken into without the knowledge of the police patrolling the area.

According to Chol, the stolen money was in the safe in the office but the armed thugs “brought it out and shot its lock open’’ and took off with the money.

The police officers deployed to guard the area which includes a market have been arrested as suspects in the theft.

“The team that was on duty over night, they say that they didn’t hear sound of gunshot.?I have arrested all of them and they are taken to the prison”, said second Lt. Dhieu Garang, the operational officer of the police.

Garang said the arrested suspects should help police with investigation and also explain how they could fail to hear the gunshots.
