S. Sudan’s Kiir moves legal advisor to diplomatic service
October 18, 2014 (JUBA) – South Sudan’s president, Salva Kiir, issued a surprise executive order on Friday moving his legal advisor, Telar Riing Deng, to the diplomatic service.
According to the decree announced on the state-owned South Sudan Television SSTV, Deng, known to be one of president Kiir’s most powerful allies, will now become the country’s new ambassador to Russia.
In separate appointments, Garang Diing Akuong, South Sudan’s former trade and industry minister, and Emmanuel Lowilla, the former minister for the presidency, were posted to the US and Belgium respectively.
