Sudan’s NCP vows to discipline members running independently in elections
January 25, 2015 (KHARTOUM) – The ruling National Congress Party (NCP) has warned that members who plan to run independently in the country’s upcoming general elections will be held accountable.
NCP Shura council secretary Mohamed Tahir Osham also revealed that some party officials had been dispatched to various states to talk members out of running as independents in the poll.
He said that a disciplinary committee will take measures against those who disapproved of the party’s nominations in parliamentary elections.
Osham called on members planning to run as independents to pull out of the race to avoid punishment.
The National Elections Commission (NEC) is due to announce on the final list of candidates for the April elections on Sunday.
