E. Equatorial intellectuals warned against dividing citizens

August 4, 2015 (TORIT) – The chairperson for the council of political parties in South Sudan’s Eastern Equatoria state has warned intellectuals against dividing the population.

Speaking at a meeting in the state capital, Torit, Emilio William Odingila advised those critical of the current administration to summon the state government for proper redress.

“The state government is like any other government in the part of South Sudan who is subject to mistake that a central government may also do”, Odingila said on Tuesday.

He called upon the major critics of the state to show nationalism for their leaders and to the country’s men and women living in the state. He said some criticisms were baseless.

“Our message to our people in eastern equatoria state is that let us together practice responsible politics in the state, we don’t need to divide our people as far us politic is concern because we are for the people and they are for us too”, stressed Odingila.

“We need to put together our ideas as politicians but should there be anything that we cited the government has gone astray there is need for us to summon the government for a meeting then we talk face to face for the interest of the people”, he added.

Odingila further said the council of political parties was not opposed to government, but supports the state administration in meeting the basic needs of the state communities.

“We are not opposition to the state government but a partner who are playing role in supervising and guiding them in whatever challenge that deter progress in our state and country”, he said.

He calls upon the state government elected by its subject to maintain the security and peace of the state despite pressure and criticism by selfish individual sons of the state.

“We will work hand in hand in meeting the dare challenging needs of the state community as partners toward promoting democracy Eastern equatoria”, said Odingila.
