SPLM-N claims killing 16 government troops in Sudan’s Blue Nile

February 17, 2016 (KHARTOUM) – In an attack carried out on a Sudanese army unit in the Blue Nile state on Wednesday, the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement -North (SPLM-N) fighters claimed killing 16 government soldiers.

In a statement issued on Wednesday evening, the SPLM-N official spokesperson Arnu Ngutulu Lodi said the ambush took place in Alyarmuk seven km south Bot town.

Lodi said the ”preventive attack” aimed to destroy the potential threat of the government troops and to abort attacks on civilians in the area.

Also, he claimed they killed 16 soldiers and lost one fighter from their side. He added they captured two machineguns PKM mg, three RPG-7, 13 pcs of AKM rifles and good quantity of ammunition and food.

The Sudanese army spokesperson was not available for comment.

SPLM-N officials say the Sudanese army mobilizing troops to carry out a large scale attack on their positions in the Blue Nile state.

In a separate statement issued earlier on Wednesday, the rebel spokesperson reported that the Sudanese warplanes dropped 46 bombs on several villages in Dalami area and Um Dorain area in South Kordofan on 13,15 and 16 February.

He added that a man was killed and four children injured during the bombing of Um Dorain.
