S. Sudan’s Kiir appoints nine new diplomats, UN ambassador

April 11, 2016 (JUBA) – The South Sudanese President Salva Kiir assigned nine new ambassadors to several countries, a move seen as attempt to solidify his diplomatic roots in the ministry of foreign affairs that will be held by former political detainees.

The ministry of foreign affairs was given to the ex-political detainees, a faction of the ruling party forming part of the Transitional Government of National Unity.

Ambassador Akuei Bona Malual replaces Francis Mading Deng at the United Nations.

Also appointed are Kuol Alor Kuol (Switzerland), Bior Ajang Duot (Sudan) and Parmena Kauet (Kuwait) Mariano Deng Ngor (Tanzania), Deng Deng Nhial (UAE), Lazaro Akoi (France), James Morgan (Ethiopia) and Chol Mawut heads to Kenya

Former cabinet affairs minister Deng Alor has being proposed as the country’s new foreign affairs minister during the 30 months of the transitional unity government.
