Western Lakes state hit by junior appointments
June 20, 2016 (RUMBEK) – Employees at the ministry of information, youth and sports in South Sudan’s Western Lakes state are at odds with the minister over his decision to appoint junior officer as the incoming director general within the ministry.
This follows the resignation of the ministry’s director general, Joseph Mabor Marial, now a lecturer at Rumbek University.
Marial, who was at the ministry since 2007, dismissed claims that he left due to disagreement with Minister Daniel Dut.
Sudan Tribune has learned that the appointment of the ministry’s former director for finance and administration, Agum Joseph Kuc as the director general caused unease among other employees.
Critics, however, say Agum is a grade four level civil servant and thus unqualified to become a director general in the ministry of information, youth, culture and sport.
Meanwhile, among the officials who had been earmarked to replace the ministry’s former director general were the current director for youth and sport at the ministry, Daniel Ater Kon and the acting director for administration and finance Meen Mathac.
