Official blames SPLM-IO for insecurity in Juba
July 6, 2016 (JUBA) – A South Sudanese diplomat loyal to President Salva Kiir, has claimed that the opposition faction of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM-IO) under the leadership of First Vice President, Riek Machar, is responsible for the ongoing criminal activities in the national capital, Juba.
Ambassador Gordon Buay in a statement he issued on Wednesday said the December 2013 war created by the SPLM-IO leadership, which resulted to economic hardship, is responsible for the emergence of criminals in the capital.
He also blamed the newly appointed minister of interior, Alfred Ladu Gore, who is official of the SPLM-IO, for allegedly failing to provide adequate security in Juba.
“The Minister of Interior is Alfred Lado Gore who is a member of IO. Let him deploy the police force in the town to prevent the criminals from killing people. Lado Gore should be blamed if there is no security in Juba,” Buay said in the statement on Wednesday.
“Besides, the SPLM-IO is responsible for the economic hardship which created so many criminals in Juba. It was the IO that burned the central procession of Unity oilfield in 2015. Our economic problems came from the destruction of our oilfields by the IO,” he further charged.
Ambassador Buay also denied accusation that military intelligence (MI) personnel of the SPLA were responsible for the killing of the SPLA-IO officer, Lt. Colonel George Alex Gismala, on Saturday.
“I want to inform the Diaspora that the false accusations coming from IO cadres in Juba alleging that two of their officers were killed by government agents should NOT be accepted by anybody in the Diaspora,” he said.
“The South Sudan Police Service said that the IO officers might have been killed by criminals who are now terrorizing Juba at night,” he added.
Accusing the SPLM-IG without concrete evidence is by itself a violation of the peace agreement. The IO people need to know that they are not rebels anymore who should continue accusing the government without any proof.

The SPLM-IO is directly responsible for the proliferation of criminals in Juba because if they didn’t destroy oil facilities in Bentiu, our economy could not have deteriorated.
“Let the SPLM-IO stop the criminals killing people in Juba because the Minister of Interior is from them. Let the IO bring dollars to fix the economic problem that created the unknown gunmen”.
