Sudan says international community’s stance on Darfur “positive change”
CAIRO, Dec 11, 2004 (MENA) — Sudanese Agriculture Minister Majdhub al-Khalifah, head of the government’s delegation to Abuja peace talks with the Darfur rebels, said Saturday the international community’s stance regarding the Darfur crises is witnessing a positive change.
In statements to Sawt al-Arab Radio over the phone on Saturday, Al-Khalifah said the deadline set for settling the crises in the western Sudanese region was enough to resolve the problem there, adding that all parties should exert their utmost efforts in this respect.
The Sudanese minister noted that the government was doing its best for a just and comprehensive peace to prevail in Sudan and to honour its security and humanitarian commitments in the war-torn region.
