Egyptian president to visit Sudan soon: FM
KHARTOUM, Jan 15, 2005 (SUNA) –The Egyptian President, Mohamed Hosni Mubark, is to visit Sudan in the coming period to congratulate the President of the Republic, Omer Al-Bashir, and the Sudanese People on the signing of the final peace agreement, announced Minister of Foreign Affairs Mustafa Osman Ismail.
In a statement to SUNA, Ismail, who returned from Cairo Friday, said that he delivered a message from President Al-Bashir to President Mubarak. He said President Mubarak affirmed that he would visit Sudan shortly to personally express his congratulations.
Ismail said that President Mubarak affirmed Egypt’s support to the peace agreement, and that it would continue efforts with Sudan to achieve stability and security.
He explained that the message of President Al-Bashir to Mubarak dealt with the developments in the peace process and Sudan’s appreciation of the Egyptian role in this respect. The message also dealt with exchange of views on the future of peace and the situation in Darfur, said Ismail.
He added that participation of the Egyptian Parliament with a high-level delegation in the celebration marking the tabling the peace agreement before the National Assembly on Saturday reflected the support of Egypt to Sudan’s peace agreement.
