Sudanese SPLA selects army officers to join government forces

NAIROBI, Feb 12, 2005 (Al-Sahafah) — The Sudan People Liberation Movement [SPLM] has completed selecting its military commanders who will participate in the joint military units with the government as stipulated in the peace agreement.

The SPLM has further announced that a special investment blueprint for the south will be published soon.

According to a high-ranking SPLM official, who spoke to Al-Sahafah, the movement has finalized the selection process of its military commanders as well as the appointment of its cadets and private officers who will serve in the joint military units with the government in line with the peace agreement.

The official further said that some of the commanders who have already received their appointment letters have left for Juba.

He said that the process of identifying areas to which the SPLM forces will be deployed have been finalized, also as stipulated in the cease-fire agreement.
