Kenya, Sudan pledge to enhance trade ties
NAIROBI, Aug 12, 2003 (Xinhua) — Kenya and the Sudan have pledged to enhance trade relations between the two countries, local newspaper East African Standard reported Tuesday.
During a two-day Kenya/Sudan Inter Ministerial Committee Meeting here Monday, Foreign Minister Kalonzo Musyoka said that both countries should exploit their trade potential through regional blocs like the Inter Governmental Authority on Development, and the Common Markets for Eastern and Southern Africa.
“We have a common destiny and working together through these economic blocs will benefit us,” he said.
Meanwhile, Sudanese Foreign Minister Mustapha Osman called for the formation of a joint business council to enhance contact between businessmen from the two countries.
“There is need for us to move in and ensure that quick solutions are offered,” Osman said.
