Germany reportedly to send 50 soldiers to Sudan
BERLIN, Apr 9, 2005 (Xinhua) — The German government would make a decision to send 50 peacekeeping soldiers to Sudan next week, local media reported Saturday.
The government would make the decision at its cabinet meeting on Wednesday, German Newsweek magazine Der Spiegel said.
The German parliament is expected to pass the move the following week, it said.
The 50 soldiers will join 750-strong United Nations military observers in Sudan to monitor the implementation of a peace agreement forged between the Sudanese government and rebel groups in January.
