UN to discuss Sudan’s commitment to peace
KHARTOUM, May 4, 2005 (Sudan Tribune) — The UN Security Council will hold a special meeting on 18 May to discuss the peace situation in Sudan as well as the steps taken by the Sudanese government to fulfil its international commitments.
In a press statement, the state minister for external affairs, Najib al-Khayr Abd-al-Wahhab, said the meeting would also touch on the humanitarian situation in Darfur as the Security Council would be deliberating on the humanitarian situation on the African continent.
The implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement signed with the SPLM will be also discussed in this meeting according to its international commitments.
