Egypt ready to meet South Sudan electricity needs
CAIRO, May 6, 2005 (Sudan Tribune) — Egypt is ready to meet the needs of electricity in Sudan, said Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Energy Hassan Younis on Monday.
In press statements, he noted that Egypt had sent two technical teams to Sudan to be acquainted with the southern Sudanese needs of electricity and compile a study in this respect.
Younis told the Egyptian news agency MENA that during a recent visit to Sudan, he inaugurated a power transformer plant in Khartoum, set up through cooperation by a private Egyptian company with the Sudanese side.
On cooperation in setting up power stations in Sudan, the minister said a number of Egyptian companies have established 13 power stations.
