Arrival of a new batch of AU South-African Civilian Police

Khartoum, May 26, 2005

Forty six members of South-African police services arrived today to El-Fashir as part of the AMIS civilian police (civpol). This brings up the number of Civpol in Darfur to (450). According to the AU Peace and Security Council Decision issued at its Session 28th held in Addis-Ababa on April 28, 2005 , AMIS civilian police personnel be increased up to (1560) personnel by the end of September , 2005 .
It is to be noted that AU member states contributing to civpol strength number (12) states. Civpol includes Female personnel, totaling (65) up to this day.
