Sudanese security forces monitoring Eritrea border- FM

Sudan_s_FM.jpgKHARTOUM, June 1, 2005 (Sudan Tribune) — The Sudanese foreign affairs minister, Mustafa Osman Ismail, has said that the security authorities were keeping an eye on the security situation on the eastern border with Eritrea.

Sudanese government has accused opposition forces of planning attacks on targets in the east of the country, including a key oil export pipeline.

Ismail said that the security authorities were on alert and would not take lightly any attempt to break Sudan’s national security.

He said that the security authorities were capable of repelling any attempt to penetrate the border.
