Sudan bans movement in region close to Eritrean border
KHARTOUM, June 6, 2005 (Sudan Tribune) — Governor of Kassala State, eastern Sudan, Maj-Gen Faruq Hassan Mohamed Nur yesterday issue an emergency order banning movement of the residents in the southern region of Kassala State bordering Eritrean without the permission or approval by the security authorities.
He said this was due to serious emergency reasons and in safeguarding the general security.
He further said this step was taken because of the current security situation which the state was going through and an increase in smuggling operations taking place in the region, therefore, necessitating the taking of some security measures.
