China and Sudan to Make More Cooperation in Petroleum Industry

CHINA, Sep 05, 2003 (SinoCast) — the Ministry of Energy and Mining of Sudan and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), one of the world’s leading integrated energy companies, recently signed 3 petroleum agreements in Khartoum, capital of Sudan.

According to the agreements, both parties will put USD 340 million in their joint venture in Khartoum, Khartoum Oil Refining Plant, to increase its daily output from 56,000 barrels to 100,000 barrels.

A petroleum geophysical prospecting company will be jointly set up here too, for a prospecting company of CNPC found not long ago a 2-billion-barrel oilfield in Sudan.

In addition, CNPC will build a 720-kilometer oil transmission pipeline from crude oil producing areas to Khartoum Oil Refining Plant.

At present, Sudan can produce all kinds of oil products such as aviation fuel, part of which can be exported to other countries.
