Sudanese VP meets SPLM leader in Cairo
CAIRO, June 16, 2005 (MENA) — Ali Osman Taha, the Sudanese first vice-president met today at his residence in Cairo with John Garang, the leader of Sudan People’s Liberation Movement, who is currently visiting Egypt.
Sudanese sources said that the meeting focused on discussing the developments of the negotiations, sponsored by Egypt, between the Sudanese government and the Sudanese National Democratic Alliance (NDA), the opposition alliance.
Garang had earlier met Mohammad Osman al-Mirghani, the chairman of the NDA.
The meeting between Garang and Taha comes a few hours before an awaited tripartite meeting between Taha, Garang and Al-Mirghani.
