NDA to participate in the Sudan constitutional commission
CAIRO, June 20, 2005 (Sudan Tribune) — A delegation from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will leave Cairo to Khartoum tomorrow to participate in the National Constitutional Review Commission (NCRC), the NDA announced today.
NDA spokesperson Hatim Alsir Ali said NDA delegation of 27 members will fly to Khartoum tomorrow morning to take part in NCRC.
He added that the NDA has several propositions to present to the NCRC.
On the other hand the alliance will hold a meeting next week in the Eritrean capital Asmara, to decide the return of its members to Sudan.
The parties will continue discussions on the unresolved questions of power sharing and integrating opposition armed forces into the national army.
Sudanese government and the opposition NDA on Saturday signed a landmark reconciliation agreement that officials said would boost efforts to bring peace back to Africa’s largest country.
The accord is part of the government’s drive to clean up Sudan’s multiple political and military conflicts after reaching a peace deal in January with southern rebels that ended a 21-civil war that killed 2 million people.
