Committee for peace agreement in Darfur begins meeting in Al- Fashir
AL-FASHIR, Sep 9, 2003 (SUNA) — Meetings of the tripartite committee of the peace agreement in Darfur [western Sudan] began Tuesday [9 September] in Al-Fashir town, capital of North Darfur State.
The tripartite committee is composed of the representatives of Sudan and Chad governments and Sudan Liberation Movement.
The opening sitting of the tripartite committee was addressed by the acting Wali (governor) of North Darfur State, Ibrahim Abdallah Muhammad, who appreciated the great role being exerted by the Chadian president and government, which culminated in the signing of the peace agreement in Darfur.
He stressed that the government and citizens of North Darfur state are keen to see the peace agreement being implemented for realization of security, stability and development in Darfur.
The opening sitting was also addressed by the governor of the Chadian Salamat State and head of the Chadian delegation, Brig Daud Hamad, chairman of the government side at the tripartite committee, Maj-Gen Majdhub Rahama, and head of Sudan Liberation Movement’s delegation Engineer Musa Mukhtar.
