OIC says Eritrea should stop “meddling” in Sudan’s affairs

SANAA, July 1, 2005 (Sudan Tribune) — Foreign ministers of Islamic countries have, at the end of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) summit, sent a strong message to the Eritrean regime asking it to respect the rights of its neighbours and stop meddling in Sudan’s internal affairs.

Meanwhile, the ministers of the OIC ended the 32nd session yesterday and issued the Sanaa Declaration and a final communique.

Foreign Minister Mustafa Osman Ismail, said the final communique comprised four sections on Sudan, in which the ministers commended the government’s two agreements in Naivasha and in Cairo, the government’s efforts in tackling the Darfur situation, besides announcing the organization’s support for the African Union’s position to keep the Darfur issue within the African context.

The organization appealed to Islamic countries to support the resolution of the Darfur problem.
