Sudanese parliament to approve proposed constitution on 6 July

Ahmad_Ibrahim_al-Taher_khatimi.jpgKHARTOUM, July 3, 2005 (SUNA) — Speaker of the National Assembly Ahmad Ibrahim al-Tahir (photo), has announced that parliament will approve the draft interim constitution at the final reading stage next Wednesday 6 July.

Al-Tahir said the first vice-president, Ali Osman Mohamed Taha, would address the historic parliamentary session.

The assembly on Sunday 3 July passed a recommendation by the chairman of the formulation committee, Ismail al-Haj Musa, to approve the draft interim constitution at the general features stage.
