South Sudan forum slams party’s vice-chairman for attacking Garang
KHARTOUM, July 14, 2005 (Sudan Tribune) — The southern Sudan forum for the ruling National Congress (NC) party has waged a scathing attack on the vice-chairman of the party on southern Sudan affairs, Riek Gai Cook.
The forum accused Riek Gai of attacking the first vice-president of the republic, John Garang.
In a press statement, the forum described Riek Gai’s attack on first vice-president as unjustified.
The statement said that Riek Gai Cook does not represent the views of southerners or their leaders in the ruling NC.
The statement also described Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) as the future partner of the NC, which should be responsible for the ruling NC affairs in collaboration with the ruling NC party.
The forum accused Riek Gai of being initiating unnecessary wrangles, deflecting the public opinion from focusing on issues of development and unity.
