Taha briefed on Darfur report prepared for UN council
KHARTOUM, July 16, 2005 (Sudan Tribune) — The higher committee for resolving Darfur conflict, which is headed by the second vice-president of the Republic, Ali Osman Mohamed Taha, was briefed on the joint UN-Sudanese government report.
This report will be sent to the UN Security Council at the end of this month.
The committee was also briefed on the humanitarian and security situation in the region, as well as the ongoing trials of suspects accused of committing atrocities in Darfur
Meanwhile, the committee praised the arrival of humanitarian aid in the region and hoped that tribal reconciliation would continue between the different tribes.
They also discussed the ongoing consultations between the government and the African Union (AU) to support the AU troops and difficulties the AU troops were experiencing in conducting their duty.
