Libyan leader receives Sudanese Foreign Minister
SIRTE, Libya, July 29, 2005 (PANA) — Libyan leader Muammar Gadhafi has in
Sirte received Sudanese Foreign Affairs Minister Mustafa
Osman Ismail who brought him a message from President
Omar Hassan el-Bashir of Sudan.
Speaking Wednesday after the audience, Ismail said he came
to convey to the Libyan leader best wishes from el Bashir
as well as from the government and people of Sudan for his
efforts towards peace in the western Sudanese region of
Darfur.
He said el Bashir renewed his confidence in Gadhafi,
expressing his wish that he should continue to pursue his
mediation efforts in the Darfur crisis, and his
initiatives to bring peace in the Community of Sahel-
Saharan states (CEN-SAD).
Ismail also stressed that el Bashir charged him with
affirming to the Libyan leader his country’s desire to
cooperate with Libya to reach a prompt solution to the
crisis in the Darfur.
