Sudan declares 12-hour curfew after Garang’s death
KHARTOUM, Aug 1 (AFP) — Sudanese authorities have declared a 12-hour curfew starting 6:00 pm (1500 GMT) in Khartoum Monday following riots after the death of southern leader John Garang, the SUNA official news agency reported.
Riots, looting and armed clashes broke out in Khartoum and further south in the main city of Juba though calm had returned to Sudan later on Monday afternoon.
