Sudanese ruling party welcomes new SPLM leader

KHARTOUM, Aug 2, 2005 (Sudan Tribune) — The ruling National Congress (NC) has announced that it welcomed Sudan People’s Liberation Movement’s (SPLM) decision to appoint Maj-Gen Salva Kiir Mayardit as the leader of the SPLM and the commander-general of Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA).

In a press statement the NC issued this evening, the NC said that it was ready to cooperate with the new SPLM leaders in order to implement the peace agreement and it was also ready to work together with the SPLM at this difficult time for the sake of the stability country and its future.
