Southern Sudan SSDF supports new first vice-president
KHARTOUM, Aug 9, 2005 (Sudan Tribune) — The Southern Sudan Defence Forces (SSDF) has affirmed that it will support and stand by the first vice-president and president of the southern Sudan government, Salva Kiir Mayardit, in implementing the peace agreement.
According to the pro governemental newspaper Al-Anba, a spokesman, Tut Galwak, on behalf of the SSDF commander said that SSDP commander Maj-Gen Paulino Matip was ready to reconcile with Sudan People’s liberation Movement (SPLM) as well as its leader Salva Kiir for the sake of Sudan’s stability, the achievement of development and the implementation of the peace agreement.
The spokesman affirmed that peace had become a right for all the people of Sudan.
He went on to say that the southern groups would abide by peace and would support Salva Kiir’s efforts. He affirmed that the groups were ready to work with Salva Kiir so that the implementation of the peace agreement would continue.
