Ethiopia willing to develop military cooperation with China – Zenawi

ADDIS ABABA, Aug 12, 2005 (ENA) — Prime Minister Meles Zenawi said Ethiopia is desirous to forge closer military ties with China.

Zenawi said Ethiopia and China shall forge mutual cooperation in military training, exchange of military technologies, and peace keeping missions, among others.

Meles made the statement on Thursday while discussing with the Commander of the Chinese Nanjhing Military Region, Lieutenant General Zhu Wenquan at the Prime Ministers office.

After the talks with Meles, the Commander said the visit of the Chinese delegation would further enhance the existing Ethio-China bilateral cooperation to a higher level.

Commander Wenquan said strengthening Ethio-China bilateral ties would contribute a lot toward ensuring peace and stability at global level.

Ethiopia and China have age-long cooperation in military training at present, an official from the Ministry of Defense who attended the discussions said.
