Egyptian officers begin Sudan’s Darfur mission

CAIRO, Aug 12, 2005 (MENA) — Twenty-nine Egyptian officers left Cairo late Friday 12 August for Khartoum to join African peace forces in Sudan’s western Darfur region.

This is the first Egyptian group to take part in keeping peace in Darfur. Some 600 Egyptian soldiers will join the peacekeeping forces.
