Sudanese president commends Kiir, reiterates commitment to peace
KHARTOUM, Aug 13, 2005 (Sudan Tribune) — Sudanese president Omer Al-Beshir, said that joining of the First Vice-President and President of the Government of Southern Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, to the state’s leadership is a strong boost to the national work process.

At the extraordinary cabinet meeting Saturday, Al-Beshir affirmed commitment to the implementation of the peace agreement fully, the Sudan News Agency (SUNA) reported.
He said that the cooperation between all will help utilization of the potentialities to realize the people’s aspirations. Al-Beshir said that Salva Kiir will find every support and cooperation from the government institutions and officials in his work at the federal and the south levels.
He said that the death of the former First Vice – President, John Garang, and the subsequent incidents proved the ability of the Sudanese people to surpass all difficulties for the nation’s interest.
He stressed that Sudan will go ahead to achieve its goals, adding that the Sudanese people are able to surpass the bitterness of the past and move forward in path of hope and progress.
Al-Beshir wished all success for. Salva Kiir in the current important stage in Sudan’s history.
Southern leader Salva Kiir was sworn in as Sudan’s first vice president on Thursday August 11, replacing his former boss John Garang, who died in a helicopter crash July 30.
