Sudanese businessman gunned down in Chad
KHARTOUM, Sept 26 (AFP) — A prominent Sudanese businessman and member of parliament was shot dead Thursday in the Chadian capital Ndjamena, a press report said here Friday.
The independent Akhbar Al Youm daily, quoting another Sudanese businessman in an early Friday telephone call from Ndjamena, said Ibn Omar Idris Yousuf, head of the Khartoum-based Exports Bank, was shot at the wheel of his car by two men on a motorcycle who then fled.
Ibn Omar had close ties with Sudan’s neighbour Chad, whose president Idriss Debe had decorated him less than two weeks ago. He was in the country for the construction of an oil refinery whose contract he had won, the daily said.
