Sudan’s ruling National congress party approves nomination for governors

Aug 27, 2005 (Khartoum) — President of the Republic and chairman of the National Congress Field Marshal Umar al-Bashir, chaired an extraordinary meeting of the leadership office of the National Congress at headquarters of the party here Saturday [27 August], where the office approved the nominations of the National Congress for the posts of walis (governors) of the northern states, governments of states and federal ministries and lists of the party’s representatives in the interim National Assembly and assemblies of the states.
Deputy chairman of the National Congress for political and organizational affairs, Dr Nafi Ali Nafi, pointed out in a press statement following the meeting that the approval of the nominations and their official announcement would be made after the completion of the consultation process at the presidency institution between the president of the Republic and his two deputies Saturday evening according to the provisions of the peace agreement.
Dr Nafi pointed out that the leadership office of the National Congress also approved its 6 representatives in the committee of drafting the constitution of the south.
