SPLM completes consultations on participation in interim period institutions

Aug 27, 2005 (Khartoum) — First Vice President of the Republic and President of Government of Southern Sudan Lt. Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit said that the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) has completed its consultations on its participation in the National Unity Government, the National Assembly and Councils of the States. This came in a press statement by Lt. Gen. Mayardit at Khartoum Airport after a tour to south Sudan.

Lt. Gen. Mayardit pointed out that the SPLM had completed its consultations in Juba on its participation in the institutions of the interim period, explaining that he is going to make consultations with the President of the Republic on what was agreed upon by SPLM. Lt. Gen. Mayardit pointed out that the government of southern Sudan would be formed after forming the National Unity Government.
