Sudanese preacher raps new Israeli-Pakistani ties

The Friday prayers’ sermon on 2 September was broadcast live on Sudanese TV at 1035 gmt from Al-Shahid [The Martyr] Mosque in Khartoum. The two sermons were delivered by Shaykh Abd-al-Jalil al-Nadhir al-Karuri. BBC Monitoring Middle East.

Sept 2, 2005 (Khartoum) — The first sermon lasted 16 minutes and dealt mainly with Isra wal-Miraj, the ascension of Prophet Muhammad to the seven heavens. The preacher also talked about the revelation of the Koran to the prophet and urged the congregation to uphold the five daily prayers and to benefit from this event of ascension to the seven heavens.

The second sermon lasted 12 minutes and dealt with various issues, such as the Gaza pull out and Pakistan’s ties with Israel.

The preacher says, “The word Isra [ascension] has been adopted by the country Israel. They have not named their country Hebrew or Zionism but the very name [Isra] which is used in the holy Koran. The chapter that we are talking about in the Koran has two names, Isra and the Bani Israel [the sons of Israel].

The preacher said, “The Israelis have pulled out of Gaza and now they want to withdraw from the settlements in the West Bank. All this has been written [in the Koran].

Last Friday, if we can remember the expression of the Jews -the 8,000 Jews who controlled Gaza for 38 years – saying: we did not think that our leader, the leader of the settlement, will pull us out [of Gaza]”. They were compensated threefold in order to build new homes far away from Gaza, money to evacuate and money to destroy [the houses].

The preacher also sends a message to the USA. He says, “From this mosque we send a message to America, for the wellbeing of the USA. If it wants to preserve its remaining civilization, it should exit from the Jewish curse. In our book [Koran] these people [Jews] have been cursed.

Israel’s curse is afflicting the USA, in the south, the state known as New Orleans is not new and everlasting. This state is now submerged in water. An insurance company is looking for more than 20m dollars to insure or pay what the residents of this state had insured. It is now poor.”

If people wish for the wellbeing of their country they should come to Allah and they should not doubt God and the prophet.”

Regarding Pakistani-Israeli ties the preacher says, “Someone asked my opinion on the Pakistani-Israeli ties announced today. I said these [ties] were to block the Islamic bomb. The Islamic bomb in Iraq has been destroyed, in Egypt it was prohibited and Pakistan is being blocked politically. There is no economic interest between Pakistan and Israel, they do not share a common border nor any common interests. It was good for Pakistan to stick to the ties with India and benefit from ties with China as it has benefits. But, international politics are taking the Muslims to a place where they have no interest. Oh! God show them where their interest lies.”

The preacher concluded the sermon with a supplication.
