Democratic Unionist Party announces its agreement to participate on the national unity govt

Sept 4, 2005 (Khartoum)- The negotiations and dialogue process between the National Congress and the Democratic Unionist Party, led by Mohamed Osman Al-Mirghani, entered a new advanced stage after the DUP, which leads the opposition National Democratic Alliance (NDA), announced its agreement to participate in the National Unity Government at the federal and state levels in the executive and legislative organs.

Chairman of the Executive Office of the DUP Ahmed Ali Abu-Bakr, leading a high-level delegation, met with National Congress Deputy Chairman for Political and Organizational Affairs Dr. Nafie Ali Nafie at the headquarters of the National Congress. Chairman of the Executive Office of the DUP pointed out in a press statement that the meeting came in the context of the consultations between the two parties in the framework of the agreements reached in Jeddah and Cairo, pointing out that the negotiations process which would continue with the National Congress would focus on discussing the DUP participation in the coming national unity government.

Dr. Nafie, on his part, welcomed the step of the DUP, pointing out that the meeting between the two parties tackled strategic issues in a view to unifying visions on them.
