Some 40 Ugandan rebels reportedly killed in southern Sudan

Sept 4, 2005 — More than 40 fighters from Lord’s Resistance Army [LRA] rebel movement in Uganda have been killed in southern Sudan.
In a statement to Sudanese Media Centre [SMC], a well-informed source said that the Ugandan forces launched a series of attacks against the LRA militia last week using its war planes. It managed to kill more the 20 rebels who were crossing the Sudan-Uganda border.
The source said that a number of air strikes killed 13 rebels in Atiki region, which is along the borders inside Sudanese land, as well as field operations in Kadomera camp [Kitgum district], northern Uganda.
The source said that more than ten members of the LRA were killed.
