Text of report by Sudanese news agency Suna, BBC Monitoring Middle East.

Sept 6, 2005 (Khartoum) — Sudan and Chad have expressed desire to join their efforts for the sake of resolving the Darfur crisis and reaching a comprehensive peace agreement before the end of the year.

This came during a meeting between the vice president, Ali Uthman Muhammad Taha, and the visiting Chadian minister of internal affairs today at his office in parliament.

The meeting discussed ways of developing and strengthening ties with Chad and working towards realizing the hopes of the people of the two countries.

They also discussed the effects of the security arrangements on the continued existence of the armed groups in Darfur.

It is worth mentioning that the Chadian government had made great efforts for the voluntary repatriation of refugees and the provision of relief supplies to Darfur.
