World Bank to implement development projects in South Sudan
Sept 12, 2005 (JUBA) — The southern Sudanese government and the World Bank agreed to implement a number of developmental projects in the fields of health, education, water resources and agriculture.
In this regard, the World Bank decided to open an office in the South to follow up implementation of these projects.
This came during a meeting between the first vice-president and president of southern Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, and the World Bank delegation, at the southern government’s headquarters in Juba.
The Chairman of the World Bank’s delegation, Issac Diwan, said in a statement to SUNA the meeting discussed projects that can be implemented by World Bank in South Sudan in the forthcoming period besides the best means to activate the role of the private sector.
He pointed out that a number of high level projects have been implemented, and that they were looking forward to activating the role of the private sector.
