Sudanese foreign minister, Ugandan president discuss ties
17 Sept 2005 (NEW YORK) — The Foreign Minister and head of Sudan delegation for the Millennium summit in New York, Mustafa Osman Ismail, has met with the President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, and discussed issues pertinent to the cooperation between Sudan and Uganda and ways to consolidate the bilateral relations as well as implementation of the peace agreement in Sudan.
Meanwhile, Ismail held a series of meetings with a number of his counterparts and heads of delegations who participated in the Millennium summit.
He met in New York with the Libyan Secretary of the People’s Committee for Foreign Relations, Abdelrahman Shalgham, and agreed on the importance of intensifying the coordination between the states regarding Darfur problem, and guaranteeing success of the current session of negotiation in Abuja so that peace can achieve in before the end of the current year.
Ismail also met in New York with the Egyptian foreign minister, Ahmad Abul-Gait, and discussed the stances of Sudan and Egypt concerning the issues which are being discussed at the Millennium Summit.
He reaffirmed Sudan appreciation of the stances of Egypt in support of Sudan.
