Armed group hijacks aid vehicle in Darfur
Sept 17, 2005 (ALFASHER) — An unidentified armed group yesterday afternoon attacked Abu-Shouk refugee camp in Northern Darfur State and hijacked a Toyota Land Cruiser which belongs to Al-Zubayr Charity Foundation.
The driver and a pharmacist who works for a health centre affiliated to Al-Zubayr Foundation, which provides medical care for the displaced persons were forced to drive at gun point and were later released at 7 p.m. (local time) without being harmed.
It is worth noting that cases of hijacking of vehicles, which belong to local and foreign charity organizations have increased in Northern Darfur State in the recent past.
