Professionals urge Ethiopian opposition parties to join parliament
Sept 21, 2005 (ADDIS ABABA) — Contesting political parties need to join parliament to be able to further enhance democracy in the country, some pro-government legal professionals suggested.
The Ethiopian professionals told ENA on Tuesday that all political parties need to design and approve various bills by joining parliament by avoiding their differences to further strengthen democracy in the country.
They said if tolerance among political parties is well maintained, democracy can be strengthened, development can be achieved and poverty can be reduced
The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) urged elected MPs of all political parties to participate in the formation of new parliament as long he/she fulfils the requirements.
The Board said executives of CUD including Hailu Shawl, Berhanu Nega and Ayalew Lidetu have taken electoral IDs enabling to their seats in the parliament.
