Sudanese first vice-president nominates southern governors
Sept 22, 2005 (KHARTOUM) — The first vice-president and president of southern Sudan government Salva Kiir Mayadit has issued a presidential decree nominating governors for the 10 southern Sudan states, in accordance with the implementation of the protocol on the sharing of power of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.
Here are the names of the governors:
– 1/ Mark Nabibosh Obong for West Bahr Al-Ghazal State.
– 2/ Louis Ani Madot Kondit for Warap State.
– 3/ Brig. John Lat Zakaria for Lakes State.
– 4/ Maryang Akoi Ago for North Bahr Al-Ghazal State.
– 5/ Dak Dop Bishok for Upper Nile State.
– 6/ Phillip Thon for Jonglei State.
– 7/ Brig. Taban Deng Gai for Unity State.
– 8/ Col. Patrick Raphael Zamoi for Western Equatoria State.
– 9/ Aloysio Amor for Eastern Equatoria State.
– 10/ Maj. Gen. Clement Wani Konga for Bahr Al-Jabal State.
Kiir urged all the newly appointed governors to be in Juba within 48 hours from the date of issuance of the presidential decree, to attend the swearing in ceremony and undertake their tasks immediately.
